NIU NLCEX pass rate increases

Exceeding the national, state and last year’s pass rate, NIU School of Nursing pass rate for the national licensure exam, NCLEX has reached 92 percent for 2016. This marks a significant increase over last year’s rate of 87 percent. The national and state average is 85 percent.

School of Nursing Chair Jan Strom, attributes the improved pass rate to the hard work of students and the dedication of staff and faculty. A comprehensive plan, the Student Success Program, also contributed to the increase, Strom said. The plan includes using a predictive computer-based testing system through out the curriculum, and using the results to identify improvement areas.
