Nursing Professor earns designation

Stephanie Uhr, assistant professor in the School of Nursing, was recently recognized with an Honors Faculty of Distinction designation. She will be recognized along with fellow awardees in this inaugural class during the Honors Day ceremony on April 13.

Honors Faculty of Distinction is a designation that recognizes faculty involvement, service, and excellence in core contributions to the University Honors Program. For selection, faculty and instructors must demonstrate contributions to the program in two out of the three following areas: teaching in the Honors Program; supervision of honors students conducting research; and service to the Honors Program. In addition, applicants must show evidence of excellence in teaching or research mentorship.

“It is a privilege to be awarded the Honors Faculty of Distinction designation,” Uhr said. “Since I began teaching at NIU in 2014, I have mentored numerous Honors students in all areas of the honors program; earning this designation is the epitome of recognition for my efforts supporting NIU students.”

Uhr currently teaches courses in the graduate and undergraduate nursing programs. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing and master’s degree in nursing education from NIU before earning her doctorate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2022. She successfully applied for a tenure-track faculty position and was appointed in January 2023.
