NIU’s public health program team hosted its second Public Health Expo in Wirtz Hall on April 8 in celebration of National Public Health week. About 200 faculty, staff and students gathered to learn more about NIU programs, career opportunities and what public health professionals are doing in the field to prevent and address health problems within communities.
“This was a phenomenal representation of our students, faculty, staff, alumni and external stakeholders,” said Henna Muzaffar, interim chair, School of Health Studies. “I was also happy to hear from our external partners about how much they enjoy working with our interns.”
Sherrill Morris, associate dean for academic affairs, shared
the sentiment.
“What a wonderful event to bring awareness to public health,” said Morris. “The agencies involved were great in helping us understand the services public health departments offer to the community, our students via internships, and when they are hired as employees.
