The Wirtz Hall atrium has become a true hub for student engagement — a vibrant space where Huskies gather to study, collaborate and connect. And it’s all thanks to a gift from a donor who directed a generous gift to the Dean’s Discretionary Fund.
This donor’s support made it possible to reimagine the atrium from the ground up. Out went the
uncomfortable, outdated chairs — in came bold red and black club seating, modern study carrels equipped with outlets, and fresh paint and décor that brought the space to life. The result is a space that feels modern, welcoming and unmistakably Huskie.
More than just a facelift, the new space has changed how students, faculty and staff use the atrium. It now hosts events, impromptu meetings and social gatherings, and is a place to grab a free meal thanks to the nearby Huskie Harvest freezer. It’s a welcoming environment
that encourages both academic and community engagement.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our donor — who wishes to remain anonymous — for this generous gift,” said Dean Kelly Fiala. “It’s so rewarding to see students gathering, studying and connecting in a space that truly reflects the energy and spirit of our college.”
