Research development specialist joins CHHS team

The College of Health and Human Sciences welcomes Claire Mogren, Research Development Specialist.

Mogren will assist CHHS faculty and staff in finding funding opportunities and preparing and submitting their applications.

“We are very happy that Claire is joining the College of Health and Human Sciences,” said Derryl Block, Dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences. “Increasing external funding is part of our strategic plan and having a research development specialist on board is crucial.”

If her name sounds familiar, it may be from her previous position as an assistant at the NIU Institute for the Study of the Environment, Sustainability, and Energy. In that role, she coordinated National Science Foundation-funded and Department of Education-funded initiatives, edited grant proposals and reviewed grant opportunities. Mogren was also a science intern with the Marine Conservation Institute in Glen Ellen, California.

She holds an M.S. in Marine System Science from the University of Glasgow and a B.S. in Earth, Society, and the Environment from the University of Illinois.

“I’m excited to work with CHHS’s diverse faculty and staff and provide the support needed to pursue external funding so they can continue their excellent research and service to students.”

Though Mogren is part of the NIU Division of Research and Innovation Partnerships team, her office is in Wirtz 227. Stop by and say hello.
