Beverly Henry named interim dean of CHHS

Beverly Henry has been named interim dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS) effective Jan. 1, 2021 through June 30, 2021. She replaces Dean Derryl Block who will begin a professional development leave Jan. 1 after serving in the role since 2012.

Beverly Henry has been named the interim dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences.  Her appointment will be effective Jan. 1, 2021 through Jun 30, 2021.

“I look forward to working with faculty, staff and students from across CHHS to maintain the progress we have made and look ahead to the future,” Henry said. “I would like to thank Dean Block for her leadership and am happy to be of service during this transitional role.”

A faculty member since 2003 and former associate dean of the college, Henry currently serves as the director for the Ph.D. program in Health Sciences. Her work history is a blend of clinical, community and academic responsibilities with extensive experience in practice, classroom and governance roles.

Henry earned a bachelor’s degree from NIU, master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and doctorate degree from Loyola University Chicago. Her research interests focus on person-centered care, interprofessional education and nutrition care for children and families.

“I appreciate Dr. Henry’s willingness to serve as the interim dean of NIU’s College of Health and Human Sciences,” said NIU Executive Vice President and Provost Beth Ingram. “She is an experienced leader and collaborator. We are confident in her ability to fill this leadership position while we conduct a search for the next permanent dean of the college.”
