Dean Kelly Fiala welcomed 25 members of the College of Health and Human Sciences (CHHS) Advisory Board to campus on Oct. 18 for the first meeting of the 2024-2025 academic year.
“Our board members play a key role in providing guidance and support of our mission,” Fiala said. “I am so grateful for their partnership and the enthusiasm they bring to these discussions. We are a better college because of them.”
The CHHS Advisory Board gathered in-person at the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center on Friday afternoon. Over the course of the two and a half hour meeting, members heard from faculty about interdisciplinary research efforts at NIU that focus on wellness and burnout of frontline workers. They also heard from a panel of students about their career aspirations and how NIU is preparing them to lead health care into the future.
“Our students are impressive, and they certainly shined during our meeting,” Fiala said. “I know our board members shared that sentiment, and it reaffirms that we are doing important work in the college.”
