CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Northern Illinois University women’s golf student-athletes Lauren Ingle (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Hills-Stoney Creek), Jasmine Ly (Windsor, Ontario, Canada/Holy Names), and Isabella Samudio (Bogota, Colombia/Colegio Helvetia De Bogota) have been named All-American Scholars by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association.

“We are extremely proud of these Huskies that have earned All-American Scholar honors,” said head coach Kim Kester. “Isa, Jasmine and Lauren all put in a ton of work on the course and in the classroom. We’re happy to see the WGCA recognize all the hard work they have put in during the school year.”

Ingle, a junior carrying a 3.810 cumulative grade point average in Nursing, was second on the NIU women’s golf team in scoring this past season with a 75.33 stroke average. She had a pair of top-10 finishes in the fall portion of the schedule with an eighth-place showing at the Mary Fossum Invitational and a sixth-place at the Johnie Imes Invitational Sept. 30-Oct. 2, 2019. Ingle went under par in the final two rounds as her one-under par 71 and three-under par 69 put her at even par for the event.

Ly had three top-10 finishes in her freshman season at NIU and was third on the team with a 75.83 stroke average. A freshman with a 3.954 GPA in Business Administration, Ly finished seventh in her first tournament as a Huskie at the Redbird Invitational Sept. 8-9, 2019. Her fourth-place finish at the Rio Verde Invitational Feb. 21-23 helped propel NIU to a season-best second-place in the tournament. She was the Huskies’ top finisher at the BYU at Entrada Classic March 9-10.

Samudio, a senior with a 3.912 GPA in Entrepreneurship and Social Responsibility, played in six tournaments this past season with a 78.17 stroke average. She finished in the top-20 at the BYU Classic in March with a season-low 54-hole score of 230. In May, Samudio was honored with an Oustanding Women Student Award from NIU’s Presidential Commission on the Status of Women. She holds the NIU women’s golf single-round scoring record with a 67 in the 2017-18 season.

To be eligible for the WGCA All-American Scholar award, a student-athlete must have an overall GPA of 3.50 and have played in at least 50 percent of the rounds completed by their team.
