Ellington’s now taking reservations for spring lunches

The students and faculty behind
Ellington’s at the Holmes Student Center want you to know they are open for
lunch Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Feb. 26.

“The ongoing Holmes Student Center
remodeling project doesn’t affect us. Our dining room will be open as usual,
serving gourmet lunches,” said Bryan Flower, chef and food systems lab
coordinator for the NIU Hospitality and Tourism Management program.

Students in the Hospitality
and Tourism Management
and Nutrition,
Dietetics, and Wellness
degree programs prepare and serve delicious,
three-course meals with a theme at Ellington’s as part of their course
requirements. Along with enjoying a great meal on campus, you have the
opportunity to help students by sharing your comments about your experience.

Menus showcase seasonal ingredients with heart-healthy and gluten-free options. For example, one upcoming menu features lemon and thyme sautéed scallops, and chickpea and brown rice cakes.

Continuing this semester is the option to enjoy wine
with your meal for $5 a glass. Wine will be selected for the menu based on
wine-and-food pairings made by the students.

Seating is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with service
until 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The cost is $10 per person.

Reservations are suggested. Huskie Bucks, checks, NIU meal coupons, cash and most credit cards are accepted. Call 815-753-1763 or make reservations online.
